The Big One – finally I join an Extinction Rebellion march

So, The Big One is over for us today. Peaceful protest in London that the mainstream media will struggle to find any interest in I suspect. Too well behaved for them to get exercised about, especially when they have the FA football match to cover and the Marathon.

Just families and good people coming together in solidarity to express their shared concern over the ecological and climate emergencies.

It was wonderful to meet up with and spend time with good-hearted humans.

Anne Snelson BSc DipM MBA – we finally meet in person! Two families, two generations, united in climate concern.

Hiba Khan – great to meet up with someone in the same company who cares and communicates about climate change, and with your lovely family as well.

Claire Stocks – fancy having only just been online together at the Active Travel Cafe at the start of this week and to find you walking alongside me in the march.

Tom Calvert – in the march and all of a sudden there you are and we never even mentioned it to each other in our weekly exchange at UWE.

And to three of the four members of the amazing Ergon Theatre – Robin LyonsCatt Belcher and Noé Sébert – I love you all, you endlessly inspire me – and thanks for having me along!

As was noted today by one of the speakers, how was it for so many years the mainstream took no notice of the climate concerns and now we are wondering if it is too late or at least how much will be lost – what on earth happened in between?

It feels good for the soul to have spent Earth Day in fine company – ending with the die-in.

Thank you to the many many volunteers who organised the day and indeed the whole weekend.
