‘A call for change’
– a psalm by Rosie Lyons

God, why oh why is the world warming up?

Why are there bike paths but there are no bikes?

Lord, please I need your help.

Is it true that our oceans are filled with plastic?

I need your guidance.

Show people there is a more sustainable way of life.

Lord, I don’t get it.

There are planes in the skies while our earth cries.

There are fumes in the air but the humans don’t care.

Lord, please help the people find their way again.

And we can stay longer

On this beautiful earth that we call ours.

Our animals scatter,

They lose their pack.

We don’t realise it but we’ll want them back.

Our trees go,

We carry on laughing.

Little do we know, soon we won’t be laughing.

Come on Lord, I’ll never ask again.

Help us do it right

And see a bright light.

Let us be better, do better.

Help people be better.

Thank you Lord.

Rosie pulled this out of her school bag at the end of last week, having been asked to write a psalm on her chosen topic. She will be aged 88 when the year 2100 arrives. I wonder what she will have to say about the grown ups of 2023?
