Greta versus Fossil Fuel – a poem from Chat-GPT

On the day Greta has been charged with a public order offence having protested outside the three-day Energy Intelligence Forum (formerly called the Oil and Money conference) I asked Chat-GPT to write a poem…

Greta vs. Fossil Fuel

In a world where profits reigned supreme,
The fossil fuel giants lived their dream,
Drilling, burning, with no remorse,
For the earth’s future, they set no course.

Their wallets fat, their hearts were cold,
As they chased after black gold,
Long-term decisions? Not their aim,
They played a profit-driven game.

But in this tale, a hero arose,
Greta, with passion, she did compose,
A plea for change, a call to arms,
To shield the world from climate harms.

She spoke of storms and melting ice,
Of warming seas, not once but twice,
“Let’s make the world a cleaner place,
For a brighter future, let’s embrace.”

The industry scoffed, ignored her voice,
Their profits their ultimate choice,
But Greta rallied a mighty throng,
Young and old, singing the climate song.

The battle raged, the stakes were high,
Between profit and the clear blue sky,
In the end, they couldn’t deny,
That the future’s worth more than a pie.

The fossil fuel industry, it did yield,
To Greta’s message, a greener field,
For long-term decisions, we must pursue,
To secure a world for me and you.

P.S. If you look closely you’ll spot two parts of a recent political strapline.
