Climate action, Equality, diversity and inclusion, and Professionalism. And Megadeth🤘

The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) Annual Luncheon is a gathering to behold. 1700+ people together in one sitting to reflect upon the year gone by and the imperatives ahead that require our attention.

Our President Karen McShane was stateswomanlike in her speeches with heartfelt and eloquent reference to things dear to our Institution and it’s members.

Our CEO Sue Percy did us proud as always at the helm.

Chris Boardman MBE received the CIHT Honorary Fellowship. His speech was clear, succinct, human and hard-hitting. He reminded us that we are the first generation to truly face up to climate change, and the last generation with a chance to do something about it.

Congratulations to Anne Shaw, OBE FCIHT who received the 2023 CIHT Institution Award.

Jon Culshaw was on fire, bringing all the iconic (?!) political leaders ‘into’ the room for us. Boris Johnson spoke for quite a while without saying anything 😂.

It is always an honour to be part of this auspicious get together. To top off a great day, I was delighted to discover one of my senior Mott MacDonald colleagues who has inspired me is a metalhead and Megadeth fan. You’ll have to try and guess who 😉🤘🖤.
