First they came for…

It is quite chilling to read of such developments below – a “First they came for…” sensation. I find myself once again oscillating between chasing deadlines amidst a pile of day-job work and opening my eyes wide in shock at what is happening around us.

“They shouted up: ‘If you don’t come down and open the door, we’re going to break it down now.’ And they got what they call a ‘big red key’, which is a euphemism for the battering ram. It was scary.”

A 73-year old priest tagged and awaiting ‘justice’ proceedings to begin in a year’s time when it can be argued that he has not even committed a crime.

I wonder in 10 years time when our children learn of the stories of this pivotal era for humanity what they will make of this? The notion of protecting society from a priest concerned about climate change and protecting our energy security by drilling for more oil and gas. What defines justice in these times?

I cannot imagine the emotional turmoil so many humans are facing, on the frontlines of disagreement and conflict in all their different guises.
