Armchair viewing fodder while our country stumbles forwards

Did you watch the TV ‘debate’? A friend of mine says we get the politicians we deserve. I found it sickening enough just to read a little about it this morning. By all accounts a gross display of finger pointing and soundbites as armchair viewing fodder while our country stumbles forwards.

We seem to be confusing mainstream media and TV entertainment with what is needed to bring forward a fairer, kinder, happier society.

So glad I took the red pill.

I’ll reiterate two quotes from recent posts.

β€œWhen people become anxious enough, a significant percentage of people just want an authoritarian leader to come and fix everything … it draws us all into an authoritarian fantasy.”

“Is this how our story is due to end? A tale of the smartest species doomed by that all too human characteristic of failing to see the bigger picture in pursuit of short term goals.”

And to cap it all off, this heading yesterday from the Daily Wail:

“Tories pledge to end Labour’s ‘all-out war on the driver’ with plans to REVERSE Sadiq Khan’s Ulez expansion in London and give local residents greater power to block 20mph zones and low-traffic neighbourhoods”
