What the hell is going on?

Am I alone in finding myself at least once a day, sometimes several times, asking myself ‘What the hell is going on?’. The closer I look the more I have to squint to try and make sense of what I’m seeing, to the point that it it all blurs.

This place has been a good medium through which to offload the musings in my brain and I’m grateful for the many people out there that feel some resonance.

It’s as if we are in a confusing immersive online game in which dumb and dumber and nasty and nastier have joined forces to confound all the other players and are bombarding us with harmful, counterproductive guff while we fumble with our games controllers to try and work out how to get away or counter the madness.

A while ago I bore witness to a prominent climate activist on this platform being ‘permanently suspended’ and it was a reminder that as part of this crazy game we are stuck in, the coding is beyond our control and we are at the ultimate mercy of it. It prompted me to create a different place where I could store my musings about what the hell was going on.

If you’re interested, you can find access to those musings via my LinkedIn profile details, and if you’re really interested you can request to get updates when more musings emerge.

Thankfully the activist in question was subsequently unsuspended following a strong community backlash.

Just know that if you are permanently asking yourself ‘what the hell is going on?’, you are not alone. Hold your nerve, either we’ll work out how to play the game better or the system will crash and reset.
